Coach Cristina wanted to make a healthier version of her children’s favorite cracker—the Cheeze It—with minimal ingredients. Spoiler alert, these were not only mom tested, but kid approved!
Combine cheese, butter, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder in a food processor.
Add flour and continue mixing until crumbled.
Gradually add water and continue mixing until a dough forms.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 1 – 2hours.
Preheat oven to 350-degrees F.
Roll out dough and slice into squares. (I added a hole to the center using a wooden skewer)
Bake for 15 – 17 minutes, or when the crackers start to turn golden brown.
Enjoy!
Notes
Chef Note:I like to use a block of cheese and grate it myself. The prepackaged shredded cheese has additional ingredients used in processing, and I wanted to avoid processed cheese.Chef Note:Before I get hate mail about using whole wheat flour, this is just what I have found works best. I have played around with almond flour and coconut flour and have found whole wheat flour just works best here.Chef Note:You can completely change the flavor profile by mixing in some of your favorite spices. You could even kick up the heat or change the cheese. Be creative!
