Seared Tuna Sashimi

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 lb sashimi-grade ahi tuna steaks
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  • Combine white and black sesame seeds.
  • Generously coat the tuna steaks with seeds.
  • Heat the olive oil over high heat.
  • Add the tuna steaks to the pan, cooking for roughly 45 – 60 seconds per side.
  • Remove the tuna steaks from the pan and let rest briefly.
  • Cut into slices and arrange on a plate.
  • Whisk hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  • Drizzle mixture atop sliced tuna.
  • Enjoy!
