5 Refreshing Mocktail Recipes Anyone Can Enjoy
Sometimes you want the flavor of a traditional alcoholic beverage… just without the alcohol. And it isn’t necessarily because you are avoiding alcohol, but because you want to be healthier. Ain’t nothing wrong with that! Just because all your buddies are indulging in fun summer concoctions doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the enjoyment. You can still partake in the festivities minus the dehydration and hangover with these tasty mocktail recipes. I’ll drink to that!
I really love using sparkling soda as a base for mocktails because they are bubbly and often come in pretty cool flavors. Some other great bases include, but are not limited to, club soda, tonic water, ginger ale, sparkling juice, or ginger beer. Because, you know, it’s all about that base…
By adding a few simple ingredients like fresh herbs, lemon/limes, and berries, you can adjust the flavor profile to suit whatever you fancy. The sky is really the limit when it comes to creative mocktails.

5 Best Mocktail Recipes
1. Mocktail Mojito
Ingredients:
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- 20 fresh mint leaves
- 1.5 liters soda water
- crushed ice
Directions:
- Using a muddler or a wooden spoon, crush the lime and mint together until juicy.
- Add crushed ice and top with soda water.
- Garnish with a slice of lime.
- Enjoy!
2. Mocktail Margarita
Ingredients:
- Ice
- 4 oz sparkling water (lime flavored)
- 4 oz sugar-free margarita mix (I used Swoon)
- 1 lime, sliced into wedges
Directions:
- Add ice to glass.
- Add sparkling water and margarita mix.
- Garnish with lime wedge.
- Enjoy!
Chef Note: I am partial to the Swoon Brand of mixers because they are sweetened with monk fruit. As they say on their website, “Monk fruit is a melon native to Southeast Asia that has natural sweetness but doesn’t contain any of the calories or carbs that sugar does. Monk fruit was originally cultivated by monks in China hundreds of years ago. It grows on a vine and is high in antioxidants.” (I am in no way affiliated with Swoon—I am just a fan of using them in my mocktail margarita recipes. But I am not opposed if they would like to send me some free stuff. 😉)
3. Pina Co-Nada
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 10 oz coconut water
- Ice
Directions:
- Toss everything into a blender (or NutriBullet®).
- Mix until desired consistency.
- Garnish with a pineapple wedge.
- Enjoy!
Chef Note: Since traditional pina coladas are often times made with coconut cream or coconut milk, I swapped this out for coconut water as a base for this mocktail recipe because it is refreshing, hydrating, and has electrolytes. If we were making this with rum, it would come in handy for preventing a hangover. 😉
4. Mocktail Mule
Ingredients:
- Lime, juiced
- 1/2 Tbsp simple syrup*
- Ice
- Ginger beer (I went with Reed’s zero sugar extra)
Directions:
- Mix lime juice and simple syrup.
- Add ice.
- Top off with ginger beer.
- Garnish with a lime wedge.
- Enjoy!
Chef Note: How to make a simple syrup that’s super simple: Combine 1 part sweetener (choose from honey, agave, Stevia, etc.), 1 part water, and some fresh fruit, herbs, or spices to add flavor (optional). Simmer over medium heat until the mixture is completely liquid.
Chef Note: You can completely change this mocktail recipe around by using a lemon instead of a lime—it will taste more like a ginger beer-lemonade. Very refreshing!
5. Kombucha Mimosa
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup kombucha
- 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- Pomegranate seeds (optional)
Directions:
- Combine kombucha and orange juice and mix well.
- Add pomegranate seeds (optional)
- Serve immediately.
- Enjoy!
Just pour your favorite of these mocktails recipes in your fancy cocktail glasses, and you can indulge all night in delicious flavors without all the calories or negative effects of too much alcohol.
