Get Up and Go with This Coffee Protein Smoothie

Coffee Protein Smoothie

If you have ever wanted to “have your cake and eat it too,” then you are in for a special treat today, folks, as I am about to show you how to enthusiastically rev up your engine in the morning. By combining your morning coffee, your breakfast, and a solid serving of protein, you are feeding not just two but three birds with one scone.

Just when I thought my morning couldn’t get any better, I discovered a way to include one of my favorite guilty pleasures…almond butter…into the mix. Since chocolate and nuts go hand in hand, it was a no brainer to use our BioTRUST Low Carb chocolate. However, the vanilla would be just as delicious. Come to think of it, ANY of the flavors of Low Carb, Low Carb Lite, or Low Carb Plant would be decadent in this recipe.

You could easily make this recipe with a hot cup of java, your preferred caffeinated beverage, or even a noncaffeinated beverage, but as I think my fellow coffee lovers can agree, this one is best served with an iced blend.

Notes

Chef Note: You can also add Greek yogurt for a thicker beverage. If you go this route, I would suggest using a half cup of Greek yogurt with a half cup of almond milk. You could even add a splash of heavy cream. Just remember to account for the added calories.
Chef Note: You can use any nut butter you prefer or have on hand, just as you can use any sweetener you prefer. I opted for dates due to their natural flavor, and I really like the added dimension of flavor dates provide.
