That’s right, the holiday season runs smack-dab in the middle of the cold and flu season, and the irony is that you’re more likely to be around more people, and thus, exposed to more germs. Even more, with the stress, hustle and bustle of the holiday season, your immune system will likely be running on fumes, making your run-down body even more prone to catching a nasty bug.
4 Ways to Boost Your Immunity This Holiday Season
With that in mind, here are my top 4 immunity-boosting tips to help protect you this holiday season (although I can’t guarantee immunity from awkward family gatherings)…
First, exercise…but not too much. Over-exercising can be even more harmful than being sedentary.
Next, stress increases your susceptibility to getting sick, so manage yours in healthy ways, whether through yoga, meditation, walking or more vigorous strategies.
Also, get your beauty rest. Folks who sleep 7 hours or less are 3 times more likely to catch a cold.
Of course, wash your hands. Cold and flu viruses are typically spread through hand-to-hand and hand-to-face contact, so keep your hands clean.
Finally, load up on immune-boosting nutrients like vitamins A, C, D and E, zinc, selenium and plenty of antioxidants from a wide variety of fruits, veggies, herbs and spices.
