Holidays & Weight Gain

Holiday weight gain…ugh… Chances are you’ve heard the statistics: It’s often said that the average American puts on 2 – 10 pounds during the holiday season.

Sound familiar?

Making matters worse, people rarely lose all, if any, of the weight they put on during the holidays. In other words, year after year, the pounds keep accumulating.

But this year is going to be different thanks to these 8 tips to help you avoid holiday weight gain.

8 Tips to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

First, have a pre-game meal. Just like you shouldn’t go grocery shopping on an empty stomach, never go to a party hungry.

Next, try intermittent fasting. One “bad” meal or day isn’t going to ruin all your progress. You can compensate by fasting or just skipping a couple meals the next day.

Another powerful method of damage control is exercise, which can counteract overeating and help with weight maintenance.

A few more effective tips include chewing gum, focusing on the company (not the food and drink), not hovering near the food table and learning to say no to overcommitting yourself.

Last but not least is B-Y-O-F, which stands for Bring Your Own Food. If you bring one or two dishes to gatherings, you guarantee that you’ll have healthy options.

And today, I have the perfect dessert for you to bring to your next holiday party. This taste bud-tantalizing recipe for high-protein, low-carb holiday cookies that will leave you and your guests more than satisfied without the junk, guilt or empty calories.
